HOME (inside) is a project focused on Manfred Kuttner (1937–2007) and curated by Hugo Ruyant, on view in the Vault of St. Agnes. This is the artist’s fourth exhibition with the gallery.
The exhibition began with a game: the only rule was to select a work from Manfred Kuttner without knowing the title or year of execution. For each guest, invited to the artist’s private collection room in Dresden, each choice was made with great spontaneity. Each guest was allowed to pick between small, medium and large works, and each picked a work that spoke to them directly. Like the whole series of works shown here, they are painted in oil on unprimed canvas, only for a brief moment, on turn into a skin of pure expression.
